System Operation The body blank is removed from the hopper by the vacuum feed system. As the blanks are fed, hot melt adhesive is applied to their external flanges. (The pumps are activated by serrated wheels only when the blank flange is in contact with the backup roller.) The end panels are brought forward by the mandrel into contact with the main body blank. In the flange plow section, the external flanges are closed over the side members. The precision fitted components are moved as a unit into the compression section. The perfect geometry of each box is finalized by the reciprocating platen compression action. Equalized pressures are applied in this last forming act by the BF 400V, just before the finished box is formed.
